ABOUT GEMMA SANKEY

Dog Behaviourist and Trainer with over 20 years experience.

The Royal TournamentI was born in London, and lived there and in Surrey for almost thirty years. I have owned dogs and horses for most of my life. This includes training, breeding and showing.

I own two German Shepherd dogs and a Thoroughbred Stallion. My dogs are often used to assist alongside myself in rehabilitating other dogs and helping to balance them.

From the age of 14, whilst at school and college, I began helping to train, exercise and look after the police horses and dogs (at their main training centre in Surrey) on a part-time voluntary basis.

The excellent police dog handlers there gave me the roots of my knowledge, experience and capability to train dogs to the highest standards.

I also gained military dog training experience whilst having the privilege to work for the Royal Tournament during the 1990’s, reinforcing the knowledge I had already gained from the police dog handlers.

Meeting the QueenThe military dogs showcased their incredible abilities at the Royal Tournament to promote the armed forces. It was during my time there that I was fortunate enough to meet the Her Majesty The Queen and many other members of the Royal Family.

It was whilst living in London and Surrey that I began to use my vast experience to train dogs on a part time basis by private consultation covering all behavioural issues. I moved to Wiltshire and then to Bristol whilst working as an Animal Health Officer for DEFRA which gave me extensive veterinary and dietary knowledge. I have now returned to my passion of training dogs on a full time basis.

My training methods, as a result of extensive and varied experience, have allowed me to gain rapid and effective results in training and rehabilitating dogs and educating their owners.

There are very few dogs that I have come across that are beyond rehabilitation.

Therefore I do not consider any problem a problem!
